Mini window restoration

One of the 12 panes on each of the storm windows is set in a frame and hinged so that it can open out and let some air in. I finally started to tackle the restoration of these. Lots of scraping, some heat gun to help, these windows are truly a labor of love. 

Gravy

Siding is going up in the last flat wall. Jim called it the gravy wall, no windows or anything to get in his way.  Well just that the staging had to be setup in the next door neighbors driveway. Thanks to the kids for prepping it!!



Storm window restoration 

There are 16 round windows. They have 12 pane round wooden storms. There are a few missing and we have been restoring the ones there. Removing the peeling glazing putty and old paint, sanding, priming, replacing broken panes. I ordered Restover glass because it is similar to the old wavy style. There is nothing like the beauty of old glass. 

Steam valve?

On a shelf up near the ceiling, on the third floor is this metal container. At first we thought it was something used for showers since it was in a room with an old wall tank toilet. But perhaps it was part of an old heating system?  Another mystery to unfold…,
